Adopt A Block is the outreach ministry of Hope Church. Every Saturday we meet @ 9:45 AM for a short time of prayer and training then leave with candy and trash bags to visit the blocks around the block/community. We typically arrive back to the church around 11:45 am and end at 12 pm after a short time of sharing about our visits. Our goal is to build relationships and meet needs so that we may see transformation in individuals lives and in our community.
Two Scripture are the foundation for our Adopt A Block ministry:
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Mark 10:45 NLT
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” - Mark 12:30-31 (NIV)
We are to love our neighbors and we are to serve others. We truly believe that by being faithful, consistent, and committed to the people that we are working with, that needs will be meet and that lives will be changed.
As we go out, the great number of people in need doesn’t overwhelm us, instead we look for the one person who needs an encouraging word and a helping hand.
Come help us make a difference in someone’s life. If you can love people, hand out candy, or listen we need you! As our resources increase and the people involve increase we will be able to meet more people and meet more needs!
If you have questions about the Adopt-a-Block Ministry, serving or are interested in donating items, please fill in the form below. We are happy to get back with you! You can also just show up on Saturday morning at 9:45 AM. The beauty of Adopt-a-Block is that a person does not have to be highly trained in order to take part. Anyone who loves God, loves people, and is willing to serve can play a vital part. No experience is necessary.
